Moochinside

This weekend Moochinside hosted an exhibition of framed photographic images from our Bholu workshops in India.

Moochinside is a gorgeous homewares store in the tranquil area overlooking Hardy's Bay. Well worth taking the time to make the trip, they also have a great gallery space where our photos are currently hanging.

All proceeds from the sale of these framed photographs go towards supporting our new project in India, where we are building a "balwadi" which is a women and childrens'centre in the slums of Ahmedabad not far from our schools.

Moochinsiders (Margie & Pete McFadyen) support emerging artists and eco-friendly products with a sharp eye for design and simplicity. We thank them for giving Bholu the opportunity to showcase our story and support our endeavours to make a small change.

Living Service

"Living Service"- short film. Definitely take out 15 mins to see this one. You will not regret it.

Jayesh Patel, founder of the Indian NGO Manav Sadhna shows us how the Ghandian principles inspiring the organization are put into practice in the vast slums of Ahmedabad. This is the area where our new schools are, so this really helps set the scene.

This wonderful short film was made by the great young team behind Global Oneness, their site is definitely worth looking at to check out their amazing interviews and projects.
Very inspiring.

Anganwadi Inauguration

On the 13th September 2007, the inauguration of the first Bholu Anganwadi took place in India. The walls had been decorated and the school was totally equipped and ready to operate. It just needed it's opening party!

We were so humbled to see how much had been done and this is part of an email which we received from our key organiser, Neeta Jadav, a young woman in Ahmedabad who has been responsible for organising these buildings. A bit of an unsung hero, we think.

".....all the kids and people of the community was so excited for the opening of this new Anganwadi and the inauguration event. The kids were all dressed up and so happy. We had decorated the Anganwadi so nicely, with colourful pictures, the alphabet and numbers. Jayesbhai, Anarben ( Manav Sadhna leaders) and all the people who came to the Anganwadi danced and played with children. Saheb was so impressed to see all the kids so happy. He greatly appreciates your dedication towards this community and he talked about you, Bholu and the support of your Bholu community with the people of the village."

We hope this brings everything the kids needs to get a better start. We can't wait to see the beginnings of the next one!

Zaba opens in New York!

Zaba Kid's Boutique, a gorgeous new kid's store recently opened it's doors in New York. It looks all very froggy and considering Zaba is Polish for "frog" it kinda makes sense. Zaba sports great kids' labels including our very own Bholu ( our New York Premiere) and also our friend Safiras from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The store has had great reviews in New York, so if you are in NY, stop by to check it out!
Or see their website.

Lineanongrata...

Bholu has a new friend who also believes in birds with 4 legs...

"I love the green bird with four legs. I knew those existed since I was four. I even painted pictures of them. Nobody would believe me. Thank you for proving it."

And her name is Julia Freund from Lineanongrata in France. We bought some of her gorgeous illustrations and in the pack was this....we think it's pretty special.
